Research & Feature Inventory
When it comes to making a feature inventory, in my opinion, the most necessary part is understanding the problems that users are being faced with, more precisely, the pain points of the potential users.
I have conducted small user research by making a survey with the following questions:
Do you have experience with buying glasses online?
What are your biggest pain points when it comes to buying glasses online? ( or what turned you down from buying glasses online)
What is your favorite site for buying glasses online?
What sets your favorite site apart from the other sites?
What is the perk of buying glasses in person as opposed to buying them online?
I got 10 responses, and these are the pieces of information that I managed to conclude:
Only 50% of all respondents had an experience of buying glasses online. (prescription glasses, stylish, or sunglasses)
50% of all respondents said that their biggest pain point when it comes to buying glasses online is the fact that they don’t know what kind of glasses fits their face shape.
100% of all respondents said that the perk of in-person purchase, as opposed to online purchase, is the ability to try on glasses and quickly see if certain glasses fit you or not.
80% of all respondents said that the main reason why their favorite website for online glasses purchasing is better than others is the variety of sunglasses that the website offers.
Research has shown that the biggest problem with online glasses purchases is the lack of ability to see if glasses will fit the customers’ face shape, on the other side, research has shown that that is the biggest perk of in-person purchase.
Sure, there are obvious limitations when we are thinking about solving this problem.
The fact is that there is no way to physically try on glasses through a computer, duh...
But what we can do is to make a solution that would partially make this thing possible.
Idea is to develop A feature that is going to enable users to try on glasses online!
How is that going to work?
it will be a virtual feature using augmented reality, where customers can upload their pictures and the AR will come out with a visual representation of them wearing that specific model of glasses.
Besides that, customers will be provided with their face shape information and suggested models of glasses.
This right here is going to be our stand-out feature that will be used as a USP.
